![This was our 1st year attending and presenting at @barefootandfreeyoga
We had a great time.
The workshops were profound.
We both had some amazing experiences. From breathwork, kundalini, spinal energetic, Kirtan, meditation, women's movement + circle, @sonsofdetroit men's circle, drumming w/ @strongheart_drummedicine
We shared something that is close to my heart and becoming a new favorite thing to share [I already have some plans cooking up].
We always forgot to get a couple of pictures when we run events ๐คทโโ๏ธ
We spent time with great friends and met some wonderful new people too.
We soaked up the sun and let ourselves be barefoot in nature.
It is going to take some time to allow all that happened to integrate.
Sending big thanks to Beth and the Barefoot and Free crew for all of the planning, work, prep, answering endless emails and questions that goes into creating this amazing immersive journey.
It was truly amazing to witness so many people come together, to share, to go deeply into profound healing, to hold space for one another, to witness kids being free.

![Today was odd, but it led to healing in the end.
I just felt a little off.
I am not sure what caused it.
Today just didn't go as planned.
I was just off, my timing, my schedule.
I spent some time mid day shaking and stretching. I felt better.
I was able to get a bunch of stuff checked off my list but I definitely hit a wall. [Then tried to finish 1 more thing.]
Then the watermelon ๐. 2 minutes before the mess I made a comment that I needed to wrap up 30 minutes ago.
It was like my brain and body were disconnected. I literally open the drawer into my own hand holding an open bowl of watermelon.
I laughed.
And cried.
At the same time.
I said "what is wrong with me?!?"
My body released the tension I didn't know I was holding. I gave myself a shake and started cleaning up. Then all of the old messages and beliefs started streaming in.
"I'm so clumsy"
"I need to pay more attention"
"If you just paid attention..."
"You always make such a mess"
"What is wrong with you "
"You are making more work for yourself "
"I am lazy and disorganized for missing an appointment and making a mess."
As I took note of these old beliefs and messages I used to believe about myself, my response to the watermelon made sense.
It was a defense. If I laugh others cannot make more fun of me. Laughing used to hide the tears but this time the tears were allowed to move through. With them the emotion and stress.
I let myself breathe, eat and regulate.
Then I cleaned up the mess.
It gave me time to reflect and understand what just happened with my nervous system + my body.
Then I became aware that I completed a stress response cycle in a different way.
It may have just been watermelon but really it was a opportunity for me to follow my body. To pause + listen. Let myself feel. Be present. Respond differently.
To heal in a small way. ๐

It isn't about always being regulated.
It is about building capacity + the tools to feel the hard stuff, face the old beliefs and continue to move through the stress response cycle.
It is about moving through and returning to regulation on the other side.
Not all healing is big moments.
